MGA Email Server Down

Morning all,

I have been up all night fighting with the MGA SMTP server (it send out all the emails on signup/password resets).

I noticed last night it had been up and running for 63 days for a windows box this is great but i thought it was time for a reboot so i did one.

after about 10 mins i thought hmm this isnt right the server isnt back, so a visit the Data Center was needed, when i tunred on the monitor for this server i could see a new BSOD says "inaccessible_boot_device".

I tried ever fix i know but i an unable to make this BSOD go away and it looks like (after i read google for a bit) that the main HD may have died.

So i have been up all night trying to rip all the data of the faulty HD, it now have it off (all i hope) and the server is currently rebuilding a new BOOT HD for its self.

Right now it says 14 hours to complete.

Even tho i havnt slept im leavnig for work in a few mins, im hoping by about 9-10pm server time the repair work should be done and ic an bring the server back online.

While this server is down no emails will be sent or recived from MGA so the sign up for new accounts is down and so is the password re-set system.

IF this repair work im doing DOESNT work, u will prob not see me for a few days while i build a new SMTP server.


IF ANY ONE NEEDS AN ACCOUNT MAKING DROP INTO THE IRC CHAT ROOM AND ASK FOR A GMs HELP!

UPDATE!!

Wow i hate doing restores.

anyway the old MGA server (MGASRV01) has gone to the great computer store in the sky.

The main hard drive died or got corupted, either way windows wouldnt load and it kept blue screening on me. Iv tried every trick in the book to repair / make the system boot (even once would be nice), but its a no go, what ever is damaged on the HD is one of those nasty things that u cant get away from.

Since MGASRV01 is now 18 years old, yes u read right 18 years, its time i let it have a rest and give the work to one of hte brand spanking new ones.

For the next few days MGA will be running without an email server (why did microsoft make exchnage so friging hard to recover from a lost controller).

So until the new email server is up and working there is no way to update your account info as the email will not get sent to confirm its you.
I have updated the web site so it no longer needs to send an email on account creation, but as soon as the new email server is back it will again.

I will also not be in game until this is done and i have a feeling (knowing microsoft) its gonna take me a few days maybe a week :( .

Sorry for any problems caused, i will have it fixed soon as i can.
