MGA Back Up Server, Main goes BOOM!

Hey all,

This weekend just gone we had some strange issues with server, sometimes it would work fine and then bang it would have a nissy fit and not play any more.

We have moved the live world to our backup server. After ahout 8 hours of fault finding, it looks like the motherboard in the main server has died (mainly the SATA controller).

Today is a bank holiday so 90% of the shops near me are closed, on my way to work Tuesday i will buy a new mobo and fit it Tues night when i get home, then its just a matter of setting the server back up.

Just to make things that bit more tricky for us, a new creash bug reared its ugly head, this new bug made server very unstable (5-45 mins uptime), this has now also been fixed, we shoudl be back more towatds our standard 3-4 days uptime.

What a way to spend the last day of my holidays fighting with hardware/software issues.. hehe

We've had some pretty bad uptime the past few days but once we are back on main server we should be good. I'd like to thank those people who were patient through this time.

yay some good news...

the server didnt go bang, just 80% of the ram????

im not sure why so any ram sticks failed at once, but at this very moment i re-installing ubuntu on server and soo i will start configing it ready to be main realm server again, BUT and you knew a but was comming lol.

right now and dont laugh the server is running on 1.25gb of ram, to correct this and buy enough ram to max the system out again MGA needs to spend £100 (well £98.85).

If you can please help us out as this is another payment out of our pockets to keep this server online, visit the main site and donate.

We really need and we really need your help, thanks in advance.

Right now we are running on our back up server, the hardware is ok and has ram but its windows based and it the core machine of the MGA network, we need to move back to linux for smooth lag free play

Once the server is up and done i will test it see if 1gb ram is enough to play with im 98% sure its gonne be stupid lag city hehe

thanks to those who have donated, we are £17 closer to our goal of £100 for the new ram

as of now we are back on the main MGA server, but until the new RAM has been bought we are running on 1.25gig ram, this may cause some lag spikes when we hit peek times.

as soon as we have enough money will be buy the new RAM.
